do you believe that tv will damage the eyes?
please share any info ..im doing some research ..thanks in advance! muahs
this some answers from my research..arghhhh need to read more..tskkk
If you keep the TV at the right distance and the right volume then there should not be any problem.
Cathodic tube TVs produce electromagnetic radiation that is not good for the organism if fully exposed for longer times, but if you keep the distance then the effects are almost unperceived. On the other hand, plasma and LCD TV do not present any risk known.
As for the volume, it would adversely affect the baby if the he/she is exposed to a loud sound obviously, babies at that age pass more than 50% of the day sleeping, and if what this baby listens during all the day in the subconscious is TV commercials and loud programming, you will be causing some sort of discomfort that could be translated in stress. But if it is just a few hours then there is nothing to worry about.
If the baby is actually put in front of a TV to watch it, I wonder what would be for a six month baby interesting enough to be attentive for more than 15 min in front of a TV, you should not let the lights at the room be lower than the light emitted by the TV. Their eyes are very sensitive to light, and the light from the TV is very strong for a kid of that age.
The 2 things to watch out for with a newborn and TV is
1) volume- keep the child away from the speakers/TV. Sit in the spot with him or her and turn the volume down one more notch than you thik is necessary. Their hearing is fragile.
2) To not watch TV in a dark room. No one should do this, but don't subject any young child to it. (My apologies to those who enjoy going to sleep in with the TV on)
Other than that, the only thing I've read about which I believe is that the constant background noise of TV can make a child used to noise and not pay attention to you.
Of course, keep watching minimized, don't use it as a baby sitter for more than your own sanity sake (have to cook dinner, run to the bathroom, etc) and keep track of what you're watching in front of the child..
Oh, and make sure your child can't pull on the TV to stand up when you get to that stage, which sounds soon. A TV is heavy and could kill or severly hurt a child.
TV's not evil- our use of it can be, so just pay attention and use your gut instinct.
